Intimate Wedding Inspiration at The Woollen Mills

With small weddings so high on the agenda, right now, Ive been looking again at this little shoot I did at very cute The Woollen Mills, on Dublin’s north quays, a few years back. I instantly loved the private dining space, here, with it’s grounded industrial styling and views over the Ha’penny bridge. What you can’t see here is that it also has a great roof garden, right next to this little dining room, which is perfect for a ceremony or drinks reception. It also has a retractable roof (because we never commit to an outdoor wedding, in Ireland, without a backup plan). It’s the perfect way to have a wedding that feels very Dublin, right in the thick of the city, but elevated, so that there’s privacy and intimacy, too.

Shot by the lovely Natalie Marquez Courtney and with flowers by my pal Patsie & Co, the aim was to meld colour and personality with the simplicity of this urban space, to illustrate how small weddings can be the ideal opportunity for couples who are very style-focused, but possibly not swimming in budget, to create a vibe that’s full of their personality.

Using rattan placemats, that iconic Cutipol flatware and the Jennifer Slattery napkins that Im still so in love with, as the centrepoints for the tablescape, the feel is of a well-curated dinner party, rather than anything overly formal. The flowers are loose, the candles are unassuming, with just touches of brass for warmth… the feel is “get me to that table”.
