A Bright and Lively Micro-wedding in a Stunning Family Home
“Thank you for everything. We were so lucky to have you. Everything looked incredible and we had the most magical of times, created by you.”
CIARA & CHRIS
This Dublin couple had originally planned to have a larger wedding, but when Covid restrictions continued for longer… and longer… than expected, Ciara and Chris realised they didn’t want to wait to seal the deal, and decided to go ahead with a small affair in the groom’s family home. And with a much-loved garden, for the ceremony, plus these lofty reception rooms, as the dining space, they couldn’t have asked for more in a wedding venue.
We worked as designers, stylists and event managers, on this gorgeous little day, ensuring Chris’s family could be the guests of honour in their own home, throughout the nuptial process.
A West Cork native, Ciara longed to mesh the wild ways of her childhood home, with the refinement of their Dublin wedding location, so using the wildflowers which line every boreen, there, seemed like a perfect route for the flower theme. From here, the event palette became a riot of colour and texture, with the stationery taking inspiration from Chris’s favourite cake (the classic Victoria sponge) and the tablescape mirroring the eclectic warmth so present in the home where Chris grew up.
“A wedding at home can be so special, and certainly one of my favourite ways to celebrate a couple getting hitched. But to achieve that chilled, seamless vibe that’s such a big part of the dream, planning needs to be meticulous. The layers of consideration, for even a small event like this, can far exceed a hotel wedding ten times its size... but the result is so worth it.”
